Better Late Than Never
I was scheduled to sing and speak at a youth rally on Friday night. It was held in Coopersburg, PA which is a 2 1/2 hour drive from here. We left in plenty of time but ran into heavy traffic in a construction zone on Route 78. It held us up for a long time and we were an hour late for the service. I felt absolutely horrible about this but there was nothing I could do. We finally made it to the church where the people were waiting and really supported me while I sang and preached. The Lord helped in spite of our late arrival.

Basketball Game
The annual high school boys v/s old codgers basketball game was held yesterday. My high school guys played a great game and came away with a 60 - 25 win. Quite impressive. It was a lot of fun.

UBC Choir Service Update
On Saturday evening our church hosted the Union Bible College Select Choir & Orchestra. We had a wonderful service. Bro. Jerry Glick does a superb job in directing them but also in making sure they are ministering and not entertaining. God's presence was really in the service and our hearts were encouraged. Many people from the congregation commented on how much they appreciated UBC's ministry. Another highlight was to be able to keep the choir and orchestra members in our homes on Saturday night. We really enjoyed the time of fellowship and many of our congregation stated how much they enjoyed this as well. I appreciate all of our holiness Bible Colleges and UBC is a great school with some great people.

A bridge is being replaced in Mt. Pleasant Mills, PA which is only about 4 miles from our house. I'm glad this bridge is being replaced, however, the projected date of completion is sometime in August from what I understand. There are a couple quick ways to get around the said construction in said town. Most of the time you have to be going to Mt. Pleasant Mills or Richfield on purpose to even be on Rt. 35 but lets just say, hypothetically of course that you accepted an invitation from this author to attend a special service (check previous post), you would need directions to get around this construction site. This is why this map is provided. It's really pretty simple.

Catching Up On Sleep
As I'm sure you all are aware, we began daylight savings time early yesterday morning. It seems that some of our congregation especially missed that lost hour of sleep. After the morning service a dear parishioner informed me he caught back up on that hour of sleep during my sermon. "Is that all you got?" I asked. He replied, "Well, I only slept through half of the sermon."

On The Radio
It was neat to hear a couple of my songs played on the radio the last couple of weeks. 88.9 WTLR out of State College has a sister station 107.1 WQJU Mifflintown. Between the two of these stations they cover quite a large portion of central PA. Dave Colyer hosts Saturday afternoon gospel every Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. He plays southern gospel on this particular program. Last week he played He's Waiting On You and this week he played One Jar Of Oil, both are songs that I wrote and put on my CD. It's really exciting to hear my music getting air play but most importantly I hope that someone is encouraged by the songs and their message.

My Latest Music Selection
This is my latest addition to my music library. Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver are a great bluegrass group. Most of the personnel in the group has changed over the years but the music has stayed the same. My wife still hasn't grown to love bluegrass music like I do but I'm working on it.Thursday, March 01, 2007
From time to time I check the web site for the local newspaper for Gallia County Ohio where I grew up. I checked it this morning and found an article from the sports section about my nephew's high school basketball team. I wasn't too surprised to see a picture of him featured in the article. My nephew Travis is a very good athlete and is a standout in football and basketball. Basketball being his best sport. His school, South Gallia High School, is a small school but they had very successful seasons in football and basketball this year. This is Travis' senior year of high school so this was his final game. I very clearly remember my last high school football and basketball games. When you are into sports as much as I was, its not easy to walk away from it. So I know how Travis is feeling right now. I know that life isn't just about sports but I am thankful for the lessons and memories that playing football and basketball gave to me.
