I am trying something new with this blog post. I publishing this post from my Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop. Go ahead Jon, make fun of my Dell. I just wanted to see if I get better results from this computer than I do my other one. After I publish a post on the other one it takes several hours before I can see it on my computer. Many times other people can the posts much sooner than I can. Yes, I have hit my refresh button, I have tried everything I can think of but it still will not show the post immediately on my computer. Oh well, I'll see what happens with this one.

Here is another picture from the past. Certainly many of you would recognize this boyish face. This is one of the greatest guys I've ever known.

3 More Years

I am breathing a little easier now. Our church business meeting was held last night and this year was a pastoral recall year. I didn't expect any problems but I was very nervous anyway. I am confident enough in my church that if there would be any problems they would come to me rather than waiting until the church business meeting to address them. In our church, the votes are cast and read right in the business meeting. The members are to vote Yes to keep the pastor and No not to keep him. Oh, and the pastor sits right there during the whole thing. Talk about nerve-wrecking. Anyway, the vote was very good. Actually it was excellent. It was a unanimous vote for us to stay with another three year call. I say the vote was unanimous, of course you should know that my wife and children were the only ones allowed to vote. Not really. I pastor a great group of people and we are looking forward to great things in the future.

Dinner With The Boys

A few of my friends and myself have been meeting on a monthly basis for lunch and intellectually stimulating conversation. The setting of this month's meeting was Wendt's Pork Palace & Ice Cream Barn, a fine dining establishment new to Snyder County, PA. This was my first time eating at the Pork Palace. I didn't know what to expect but it is a unique restaurant. The food was good, home-style cooking. But what makes these meetings such a wonderful experience are the people I eat dinner with. The Right Rev. James D. Plank, the philosophical genius Rev. Matthew Ellison and the illustrious Mr. Jon Plank make up my monthly dinner companions. Our conversation usually revolves around solving the problems of the world but we are not above telling a joke or two. Even serious minds like ours need a break from time to time. I really enjoy meeting with these guys and look forward to these meetings.
